What about a week-end with beautiful Italian colors of the Fall and dedicated to Avant-garde? The poetical and full-of-colors works by Joan Mirò have arrived to Genoa, and they will be at Palazzo Ducale until April 2013. The Locanda di Palazzo Cicala is the perfect location for your break entirely dedicated to art.
Palazzo Ducale hosts from 05/10/2012 to 07/04/2013 an exhibition of the works by Joan Mirò (1893-1983), the great Spanish artist who definitely was a focal point for the European Avant-gardes.
This exhibition has been set at the Doge's Apartment within Palazzo Ducale and presents over 80 works, and among them there are 50 beautiful large-sized oil paintings, earthen-wares, bronze sculptures and water-colours. Among the major works you will have the opportunity of enjoying his oil-paintings. His sketches, among which there is the one which has been used as wall decoration at Harkness Commons-Harvard University, come from the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma di Maiorca (where many of Mirò's work are on display), have been borrowed especially for this exhibition.
